Klaxons Open Rock the Pistes in Avoriaz

The First Gig of the 2014 Rock the Pistes in Avoriaz

featured in Events reviews Author James Fisher, Avoriaz Video Reporter Updated

The Klaxons opened the 2014 Rock the Pistes Festival yesterday afternoon in Avoriaz. The band were the first act in the line up which this year includes Mad Professor and Lee Scratch Perry and Babyshambles.

The opening concert took place at the top of the Stade lift in Avoriaz in pretty cloudy and snowy conditions but the weather didn't dampen anyone's spirits. The band took to the stage in puffa jackets and sunglasses and played an energetic set which included some new material from their soon to be released third album "Love Frequency" as well as older tracks like "It's not over yet".

The gig was fun and relaxed. Two naked snowballers in the front row caused the band to laugh so much the struggled to get the words out and Shreddie the Stash monster joined the Klaxons on stage for a couple of tracks.

The gig was great fun. There was a slope side bar and although a demi was a little pricey at €3 the concert was free so it never felt like you were being short changed.

The forecast for the rest of the week is for sunshine and with four more gigs coming up in Morgins, Chatel, Champery and Morzine there are plenty more opertunities to enjoy the Rock the Pistes Festival.
