Out with the old and in with the new for the Brochaux chair lift

It’s been announced that a brand new ski lift is being built in Avoriaz to replace one of the oldest, most rickety ones in the resort. The news will come as a relief to returning visitors who know the old Brochaux one was far from modern!

The new lift will carry people between Mossettes and Avoriaz and is due to be finished in time for the winter season. The base station which can be found at the bottom of the Stash and a short ride from the Lindarets bowl, will also be replaced and moved 30 metres up.

A new top station for the lift will also be built and will be moved 280 metres east of the upper ridge in Avoriaz. This will take it some distance away from the access point to The Stash and other runs through the Lindarets forest.

The Brouchaux lift is a busy one and usually has significant queues with people wanting to make a return journey to the mouth of the Stash or back into Avoriaz. The new lift which will carry 3000 people per hour will be more than welcome by everyone!

Hats off to the team in Avoriaz who always seem to be improving things for us all!

The new chair lift should be in operation in December 2015.
