Avoriaz Dump Alert: 13th March 2018
After a full day of precipitation yesterday (to a snow level of around 1500m) we've had more snow through the night to an altitude of around 1100m. There is around 15-20cm of fresh in Ardent and around 30cm plus of fresh snow above 1500m.
With the relatively warm temperatures, the snow will be quite heavy and warm at the lower altitudes and very dangerous up high, with currently low levels of visibility. It’s a day for the trees again and very important to take avalanche risk seriously.
Tomorrow is forecast to be very sunny and, with all the fresh snow, it will be an amazing day. However, the sunny days with new snow are when people take risks and avalanches happen. Stay away from any steep or exposed slopes and enjoy the powder in sheltered and low slope angle terrain. Yet more snow building up for a great March and April
